I was just emailed an ad for a product that I currently own, what makes it works, is the company that sent me the email, sold me the product. Advertisers will need to become smarter in the comings months, weeks, days. With the mind blowing amount of information available to advertisers, they will need to take the step forward to capitalize the advertising message to each and every person. No longer can you blanket a message to an audience and see what sticks/sells. With all the tools available to the average consumer, these blanket messages will hurt the brand in the next few communications. I set up a rule in my email, so no longer will i see this type of messages in the future, so now since they basically insulted me with an ad for a product I already had, and they have the ability to know that, future communications are a waste. We all know that there is no longer brand loyalty, but there was a perfect opportunity to keep me looking for new offers and now that will no longer happen. Tap into information you already have and customize the advertising message to each person. No longer [...]

I had a great opportunity presented to me…work on a new web site. This is just not any web site, but the online face of the Sussex County Amateur Radio Club. Last night I gave a presentation that showed the members the new site and also new opportunities this project will provide the club with the help of social media. While the site is not earth shattering in design, it is great to be able to help the club take a vital resource, over the air communications, and look to improve the involvement with the use of social media. I set up a facebook, twitter and google+ page to both help get the word out more about the club and interest more people in the hobby. Over the comings weeks and months, we will use these new tools to better help educate the public of this great hobby and also guide new people to the air waves.

Here is a list of the recent books books I have finished over the past 6 months. Enjoy. Googled: The End of the World As We Know It Just eleven years old, Google has profoundly transformed the way we live and work-we’ve all been Googled. Esteemed media writer Ken Auletta uses the story of Google’s rise to explore the future of media at large. This book is based on the most extensive cooperation ever granted a journalist, including access to closed-door meetings and interviews with industry legends, including Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Marc Andreessen, and media guru “Coach” Bill Campbell. Auletta’s unmatched analysis, vivid details, and rich anecdotes illuminate how the Google wave grew, how it threatens to drown media institutions, and where it’s taking us next. Amazon Link Enchantment Apple’s former chief evangelist leads businessfolk down the path to enchantment. The entrepreneur’s entrepreneur is back with his 10th book, this time tackling the tricky art of influence and persuasion. Kawasaki (Reality Check: The Irreverent Guide to Outsmarting, Outmanaging and Outmarketing Your Competition, 2011, etc.) transforms the otherwise exhausted and overwrought tropes of how to win friends and influence people with a complete makeover here, whether he’s [...]

Recently I installed windows on an older pc, I had around the house and I sat back to think after the os what else should I install? I was thinking. Security software and a decent browser, in this case AVG and Chrome. That is it. I recall the days when the reinstall of the OS a computer could take the better part of the day. Planning was the first thing, most of the time I would lay out the software to install on the floor or on the bed. Than off to the kitchen to get something to drink and snack on. Than I would put in the cd, update the boot order in the bios and reboot. With the use of Chromium and other lite operating systems, more and more of our information is at our finger tips and I am excited to see what the future holds.

Scanner over my news feeds, I see a few articles showing up about how facebook now has more page views than google. People this is not an apples to apples comparison. Facebook.com and Google.com are 2 different sites with different goals and such will have different traffic numbers. Facebook is going to be the location that you dive in, and not that I have done it, spend hours involved. Google on the other hand, you will visit to look up the name of that band you heard on the radio, or to help you with a scripting issue. While the numbers are interesting and there is no question, well done to Mark, facebook has become a fantastic site. I would like to see if you can review the value obtained from a site. In that case, I think we have and still will find google.com as a site that will always provide value…quickly. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below. Enjoy.

It is that time of the year, the review of 2010 prediction reviews and the creation of the new 2011 lists. I am going to go out on a limb and talk only about one, context aware applications. This is the ability for applications to delivery information to you, based on your location. Either advertising or helping filter all the noise, the ability for applications to delivery information relating to your location will be very big in the coming year. The options are endless: Going to a store and as you walk around your phone would serve up ads and coupons for shopping. News and Tips when traveling. Foursquare is starting this and also had the ball rolling with dodgeball. Service. When a service person is working on, let’s say a oil burner, they will have information on the mobile device for that machine and also information on recent calls. The data is around us, but the trick will be to bring in the correct information and deliver it in a workable format. Have a comment? Please chime in below.
