Can you just pull the plug on the internet? While the idea behind an internet kill switch is a good one, several more things need to be covered. How will you remove the human error? In the past infrastructural computers have been infected with the simple insertion of a usb drive into a computer. While the usb drive appears to be harmless this is a major issue. And if this happened again, cutting off the “phone home” option by removing the hard-line would really do nothing. The application is already on the network and would not need a connection to home to start at a given hour or day. As the article points out, we will really only know about an infection at the point it is launched have carried out the task. This is a good step in the right direction, but I think this is mainly to maybe calm the normal person that is not aware of all the other options that are open. With the majority of us holding cell phones, it would not take long to locate a person in a secure facility to overtake that phone and cause issue over bluetooth. A connection to the internet that [...]

Those long nights reading up on Ubuntu, paid off. Well I was in the middle of a Jolicould install and for some reason my netbook rebooted. Not a big problem, but when it came back up, I obtained a message of “error: unknow filesystem…grub rescue.” That is it, nothing more. After a reboot, I obtained the same message. Jumped on to the message boards and scouted for an answer. I was not happy with the results and the night looked longer and longer. But wait, I have a ubuntu live usb drive and let me try and boot from that. So i did and this got me back into the ubuntu os, so i could look around as to what the true issue was. Looking at the ntfs partion I still had it for windows and the partion before c, to rescue the netbook also was still on the drive. Ok so all is not lost. After a little bit more reading up on the message and what i was able to dig up from reviewing the files all, i was dealing with was a corrupt bootloader. Not a big deal, I just reinstalled the Ubuntu partion, pretty quick and [...]

I would like to say that I am sorry, but really. It has been some time since I have last posted to the site, but i have been really busy. I guess during these times, that is a good thing to say. I have recently checked out: – google wave ( thanks again Art) – wakoopa – droid news Quick words on: Google Wave Well gw is an early release. So early they do not even call it beta. The concept is really cool, and it will be very exiting to see what is created with it. A few invites are going around, thanks again Art, so we can build a little community and start to see what is really going on. Wakoopa A cool concept and I am still pretty green to it, but at first glance it will be a very helpful tool to help discover new applications and sites. Droid What can be said about the droid…a lot. The options that this has and will open up to the end user will be amazing. The phones that are coming out are amazing and finally on verizon. I am not sure if i am going to jump on [...]
