As some of you might know, I have lost a few pounds. Some of you have asked what I am doing to keep the weight off, here is a recap. You are not going to find anything ground breaking here, but for me, this is working. I go to the gym 3 times a week for about 45 minute at 4:30am. I switch it up, with time in the pool, on the stationary bike and with weight training. I use JeFit (free one works fine for me) on my phone to keep track of my weight training progress. Music provided either by Pandora or Google Music. I am going to add in some running in the coming weeks. Food, yum. During the week, this is my normal routine. When I telecommute, my breakfast is different. Breakfast - When I am in the office 2 or 3 pouches of instant oat meal, a banana and bagel with very little butter. - When I telecommute 4 eggs, ham and cheese and a bagel with very little butter. Snack – 9:30 am Stella D’ora Breakfast Treat Original Cookies qty – 4. Lunch Either ham or turkey, sometimes both with cheese on a bagel with very [...]

Those long nights reading up on Ubuntu, paid off. Well I was in the middle of a Jolicould install and for some reason my netbook rebooted. Not a big problem, but when it came back up, I obtained a message of “error: unknow filesystem…grub rescue.” That is it, nothing more. After a reboot, I obtained the same message. Jumped on to the message boards and scouted for an answer. I was not happy with the results and the night looked longer and longer. But wait, I have a ubuntu live usb drive and let me try and boot from that. So i did and this got me back into the ubuntu os, so i could look around as to what the true issue was. Looking at the ntfs partion I still had it for windows and the partion before c, to rescue the netbook also was still on the drive. Ok so all is not lost. After a little bit more reading up on the message and what i was able to dig up from reviewing the files all, i was dealing with was a corrupt bootloader. Not a big deal, I just reinstalled the Ubuntu partion, pretty quick and [...]

I am looking forward to trying out any distro of an open source os, and peppermint ice is the next on my list. From what i see on the site is it going to have chromium as the the default brower, very nice and also a nice bundle of applications in the original download. As I use more online applications like google doc and hootsuite the need to install a bunch of application after install is almost nil. As I stated, I am looking forward to giving it a try, what do you think? But I just can’t help but hear, ice ice baby in my heard every time I see the name. Peppermint

I recently attended a trade show and showed interest in several products. So much interest that the conversation when to level of business cards and not just the normal trade show scanner. Now I wait. While I can call them, they have my number, product i am interested in, etc. It would be a lot quicker than me calling into a company and transferred around to finally leave a message in a voice mail. The word on follow up, is have a process. For me I have a follow up folder in my email, blackberry and also a hanging folder at my desk. These are set up so that I can capture the follow up in the moment. If I am given a document I place it in the folder. If I need to call someone, I place a task in my blackberry and if I have a task for work, it is either in my to-do or follow up folders. I check these tickler files each week to see what i can do or if i need to defer them till a later date. I have found these simple collection areas to be very helpful.
