Advertising needs to get smarter.
I was just emailed an ad for a product that I currently own, what makes it works, is the company that sent me the email, sold me the product.
Advertisers will need to become smarter in the comings months, weeks, days.
With the mind blowing amount of information available to advertisers, they will need to take the step forward to capitalize the advertising message to each and every person. No longer can you blanket a message to an audience and see what sticks/sells.
With all the tools available to the average consumer, these blanket messages will hurt the brand in the next few communications.
I set up a rule in my email, so no longer will i see this type of messages in the future, so now since they basically insulted me with an ad for a product I already had, and they have the ability to know that, future communications are a waste.
We all know that there is no longer brand loyalty, but there was a perfect opportunity to keep me looking for new offers and now that will no longer happen.
Tap into information you already have and customize the advertising message to each person. No longer do you have billboard messages, those days are long gone. Take advantage of the vast amount of information/tools available and get with it!
social media over the air waves…
I had a great opportunity presented to me…work on a new web site. This is just not any web site, but the online face of the Sussex County Amateur Radio Club.
Last night I gave a presentation that showed the members the new site and also new opportunities this project will provide the club with the help of social media.
While the site is not earth shattering in design, it is great to be able to help the club take a vital resource, over the air communications, and look to improve the involvement with the use of social media.
I set up a facebook, twitter and google+ page to both help get the word out more about the club and interest more people in the hobby.
Over the comings weeks and months, we will use these new tools to better help educate the public of this great hobby and also guide new people to the air waves.
smarter notifications
As we look to connect with web sites and services from multiple devices, these tools will need to have a smarter notification system. If you aare using a certain service the application will need to see that you might have already been to the web site, being alerted to the updates avaliable. If you use the same service from a smart phone, tablet, etc, there is no need to alert the user again of the updates.
