Go ahead surf the internet.
As we all know time is something you never seem to have enough. But you need to make time to freshing up your skills. I have set aside time each night to read my favorite blogs in search of the latest technology. When i find myself with a little extra time during the day, i have a bookmark folder called ” come back too”. Inside here i have collected a group of tutorials that i want to review and try.
In some cases i will find a site that either has a really nice effect or layout. Without looking at the source, i try to think of how it was created. Was it a css style, did they use photoshop for that effect? Trying to recreate something that you have found online is the best way to try something new, it breaks you out of your style and makes you think in a different way.
If you do not set aside the time, you will never have the time to learn something new. It feels great to have this time and i know that i am doing what i can to keep up on my area of expertise.
